The American Dream
I was introduced to the World Long Drive Championship in 2001 by my long time friend, and President of AccuFlex shafts, Jody Baucom. After talking to many hitters, I came to understand the needs of this market. They wanted a component head that wouldn’t break, that would keep its resiliency and had consistent specs. I figured if I could deliver the technology and the integrity that the hitters demanded, I could build a successful line of drivers. I went to work immediately. After 7 designs, and four months later, I had designed and built the first line of SMT component drivers. The Shinnecock. 50% of the guys on the LDA tour hated it. It leaked to the right. The next version and 20% of the guys didn’t like it. The third design became almost legendary. SMT became a world champion in just 7 months!
The culmination of SMT’s first year of production resulted in 2 Re/MAX World Long Drive Champions (drives of 384 and 342 yards) and a 2nd place finish. The combination of using the highest grade of titanium and a rigorous testing process had produced overnight results. SMT’s success continued into 2003 with 2 more Re/MAX World Long Drive Championships (366 yards and 345 yards). Continued focus on delivering the best quality was key to these wins.
More than just championships, SMT is most proud of the customer following that we have gained over the past few years. Everywhere I go now, people know SMT. Built with the same attention to performance and quality as the drivers, these heads will complete your game. Each year, I make a goodwill trip overseas to freshen up the club designs and oversee the manufacturing processes. It is my mission to deliver components that are built with the highest quality materials, with the highest testing standards in the industry that will give you the competitive advantage that you need to out hit your competitors. It is also my intent to continue to listen to my customers and to give them uncompromising quality. That’s why every component I make comes with a lifetime warranty. With a combination of 24 interchangeable shafts, A, R, S and XS flexes, consisting of different weights, Frequencies (CPM), Bend Points and Tip Stiffness’s, we have achieved 144 different driver specifications and are confident that one of these will be best suited to your swing and hitting ability. Under our supervision you can try any of these combinations absolutely FREE OF CHARGE.
